One of my goals this Easter was to test the waters and see if the Mr Men theme was likely to hold my younger girls attention each Friday next year.  When I realised that they would I wanted to start making some play things to put in the littles Mr Men and Little Misses box for next year.

First up was some puppets.  A4 in particular loves playing with puppets and telling her own story with them.  So today we sat down and made some special Mr Men themed ones.

I had a heap of foam in a drawer and I always have lolly sticks on hand.  After all, one never knows when one might need a lolly stick or twenty!  This meant that for A4 and I this toy was made for free.

I set about cutting out the various shapes. Mr Men have such easy shapes that I just freehand cut them. Here is Mr Bump.

I stuck all the bits together and using a permanent marker I made the face, hands and bandaging marks

Here are a few of the characters I cut out and assembled before I stuck the stick on:

And my absolute favourite: Mr Tickle:

A4 and I then stuck each one to a lolly stick and stored them in a box for quiet time the next day:

So much fun, for so little effort and money!

  1. I’ve loved Mr Men since I was a kid (I’m nearly 40 now!) and was thrilled to find a couple of videos of the old show at my local grocery store. We have several books and my kids love them too! This is a great activity!

  2. I remember this series from when I was in the classroom. Your puppets are awesome! I will be sharing this post on Pinterest and Facebook.
