Precious Moments

We have spent most of this week wiping up snot!  Yes, most of us have had colds and the little ones in particular have been unwell.  This has meant more TLC and less actual school work 🙂

Thomas has been fine and has worked hard to get all his work completed this week.  He has now completed three out of five sections of his IGCSE Chemistry.  I am fairly pleased by his understanding of it.  He is hoping to have completed the entire curriculum by Christmas or shortly after so he can concentrate on taking past papers for his exam in June.  There has been heaps of experiments this week which he has happily shared with his little sisters who look on in wonder:

Lillie has been focusing on her art project on Impressionist artists, focusing on Renoir.  She has produced some lovely work and is really blossoming in her art.  She has also done lots of mixed media pictures, as she attempts to complete the two courses I bought in before Christmas:

Charlotte has been practicing her piano, and singing for her upcoming Christmas exam.  She is also working hard at completing her six chapter book as well as working extremely hard on her project this term which is to put on an Authentic Victorian Christmas in December.  She is LOVING this and spending hour upon hour researching, making notes and chatting to the butcher about hog heads and the like!

As usual she is causing much laughter.  For example, she sent me this message via Pinterest, with reference to her (wished for) nuptials with singer/songwriter Shawn Mendes:

Yes, this is what I have to deal with on a daily basis.  Oh, and you know you are in trouble when your daughter starts quoting Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory……

The little ones have been hit worst by the cold, and have spent the week snuggled down under blankets or playing with copious amounts of Playmobil, fitting in school as and when they could:

A week or so ago it was my birthday.  I had such a lovely time.  Gary had asked me what I wanted and I asked him to put up an extra, extra large shelf as a bedside table for me.  Literally it is about one meter squared of thick oak.  We had enough wood left over for him to make an equally large on for his side of the bed.  Making the bed is now a bit trickier than it used to be, but I don’t mind too much.  The huge shelf to keep all my sewing and felting supplies on more than made up for it 🙂

I love homemade gifts, especially from my family.  I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the cards and pictures my younger two painted and drew for me.  Especially the creative spelling….oh and the peas for mummy…I think she might have meant peace for mummy!!

I mean I like peas, but if I had a choice between peas and peace, well there really is no context  (Peace, just in case you were confused at all!)

Charlotte had also been busy as she had made me a jar containing 100 reasons why she loved me <3 and Lillie had made a beautifully worded card and created a mixed media picture, which will go up on my bedroom wall:

I also received a floor for our shed (thanks mum!), a lens for my camera, some books (which I may or may not have ordered for myself), a beautiful patchwork pair of oven gloves from my son (I asked for these), some felting supplies from my crafting friends (thanks girls, I am really enjoying using them), a gorgeous cashmere scarf from Nik, as well as some chocolate, and some soap making supplies from Leah, which I have already had the pleasure of turning into goat’s milk, oatmeal and honey heart soaps.  I just love crafting 🙂

Gary took me out to pizza express (my favouritist restaurant) and then onwards to see Briget Jones’ Baby.  Oh my goodness – it was so funny, and had such a lovely ending.  It really was a very special birthday 🙂
