Seasons of Joy: Still hanging on….

This is just a quick post, because I am crazy busy.

So, having been sugar free for a month, this week I decided to decrease my fruit intake, which I think was probably masking any sugar deficit cravings I was (seemingly) lacking.  I didn’t stop eating fruit, just decreased it.  Man, this was waaay harder than giving up all the rubbish (which my body seemed to cope with fine).  Get rid of the fruit…and, well, I didn’t have anything to fall back on.  My body definitely went into ‘I wanna bar of chocolate!!’ mode this week.  Although I was decreasing the fruit, it wasn’t the fruit my body was craving.  Oh, no.  That would have been Mars bars, and not just one.  I begged the children to go buy me six!  They didn’t and I still remain sugar-free to this day (five weeks and counting!)

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.  {Isaiah 40:28-31}

So…. I’m still hanging on by the skin of my teeth 🙂

  1. I have found that making sure I g ad plenty of protein helped my sugar cravings, but that was probaby due to the fact that I have low blood sugar problems.
