A friend of ours posted this on facebook. It is only part of a full lecture, but is well worth a look, if only for the incredible animation.
And the full lecture without the animation:
And in the interests of a balanced view, there is also a (long) rebuttal essay on the following link, which may be of interest. All very thought provoking, if you are in the mood to be provoked. Enjoy!
Interesting…and along with drugging them, here in the US we are making their breaks shorter so they can have more time to spend on their subjects. 🙁
Makes you glad we have our little ones with us all day, doesn’t it?
I saw Sir Ken Robinson speak here in Vancouver. He was indeed delightful to hear. I’ve seen that youtube clip before and it definitely does she’s some light on our brick and mortar schools.
I must say, I really enjoyed the clip with the animation and he is a particularly good speaker.
Thank you for the link to Scott Goodman’s rebuttal of Sir Ken Robinson’s views, which is hosted on my blog at http://www.EdTechNow.net. I also wrote my own rebuttal of Sir Ken’s views at http://edtechnow.net/2012/01/20/sir-ken-robinson/. We both think he is a very charming and charismatic speaker – we just think that his message is poorly thought through. Crispin.
No problem. Thanks for the extra link!
He speaks well and what he has to say is illuminating, especially about ADHD. Thanks for sharing.
Glad to share.
Great video. I think I’ve seen other similar ones. They are very clever! (and spot on if I might add)
I agree. I think the animation add something and illustrates his lecture very well. I think he has some important things to say.
thanks a lot for sharing, I also want to share with you something that deeply moved me, hopes it encourages you and your family blessings Myriam

Thanks Myriam, I’ll be sure to take a look. Thank you for thinking of us!
I had the opportunity to watch the animated video yesterday. Very interesting and just another reason to home school. Loved the US part. So VERY true. I am going to try to watch the full version at a later time. The animation was awesome. Thank you for sharing.
I agree the animation was fab, and was worked in so well with the lecture!
You may enjoy reading The Underground History of American Education by John Taylor Gatto. You can even read it online for free.
Thanks for the recommendation. I’ve definitely read one of Gatto’s book, when I was first looking into home schooling. I think it was ‘Dumbing Us Down’. I’ll look this one up, thank you.
