Making a ‘Build a Mr Man’ Felt Kit

This week I started making the little ones’ Mr Men Felt kit.  I used an ice cream box, pack of felt and fabric glue:

I cut some felt to fit into the lid of the ice cream box and stuck it down with fabric glue.  I then decorated the outside of the box with felt scraps and stuck a felt Mr Happy on the front so I would know what kit this was:

I then cut out the body parts of Mr Tickle: his body, feet, arms, hat, eyes and smile:

The little ones can then put them together to make up their character of the week:

Mr Tickle as Mr Tickle should be
Mr Tickle as Mr Tickle should be (well, almost!)

He can then be stored inside the box:

Each week I intend to cut out the body pieces of the Mr Men or Little Miss characters and add them in.  The girls can then either make up the characters they know or they can mix and match!  All five of my children enjoy playing with felt pieces so I think there is a lot of mileage in this toy.

  1. The littles (and by that I mean everyone under 99) will have fun with this. Felt is one of those joys of childhood. I still have Christmas package decorations my mom made when I was a child. With all of the new paper cutting machines and things to make our life “easier,” it is nice to see some of the past utilized to make learning fun.
    Enjoy your autumn day!

    1. Oh, handmade Christmas decoration by your own mum! How wonderful! My mum used to decorate a Yucca plant for Christmas with a bit of tinsel!! Every year we make home made decorations to go on our proper Christmas tree. Mum says it’s a way of making up for the rather sad looking Yucca plant of my youth!!

  2. I’m sure the littles will have lots of fun with this. I’m loving all your ideas, even though Tiger is past the age for Mr. Men. I might just cut the shapes out and play with them myself. 🙂
