Here is our pond this week:
This week was all about the signs of Autumn. I love Autumn more than any other month of the year. I love the warm colours associated with it; I love our wood burning stove lighting up our 200-year-old living room each night whilst Gary and I are snuggled up watching NCIS dvd; I love the food which lends itself well to the cooler nights; I love that we can burn apple and cinnamon candles around the house as the evening closes in. I just love everything about Autumn. So said, you can imagine my delight at the glimpses of my favourite season down at one of my most treasured places. Here is the start of Autumn in pictures at our pond:

So much wonder to behold and yet we didn’t forget to check in on our feathered friends:

Though life sometimes throws us challenges we are forced to face; ups followed by the inevitable downs; worries that maybe life might change one day more than we would like; somehow it is nature that seems to keep us grounded, its roots reaching far deeper than simply the earth around it, indeed touching the very epicentre of our souls.
For down at my pond, regardless of the difficulties I face, I am at peace. Metaphorically speaking, I am able reach out and touch the hand of God, drawing strength from the one who created everything I hold so close to my heart.
So nice that you have a spot to go and take refuge in. We all need respite from time to time.
That we do! Thank you so much for your kind email. I’m sorry I didn’t reply sooner, I try not to use the computer over the weekend.
Very beautiful and reflective post. We,’ve been noticing the changes here and feel things are a bit later than other years. I love Autumn when it’s dry and the piles of leaves are crunchy. We might be out today and take some pics to send to you. Love to all xxxxxxx
We’d love some pictures. It is wet and cold and dreary, yet somehow very cosy here, especially after your son arrives home and lights a fire. I must learn to light me a fire!
Hi Claire!
Loving the pond posts. We’ve just started doing something similar with the coast!
Thanks Emma. I miss the beach so much and think that it must be the best place to do a study.
After a quiet devotional time, this was a lovely way to start the day. We are just beginning to see signs of fall. We were at 90 degrees on Saturday, but the 70’s are expected this week along with some much-needed rain. Autumn is my favorite season. I love the colors, the temperatures, the feeling in the air. It is not quite time for the wood stove (known to us as the central heating system:(
Enjoy your beautiful autumn days.
We only got our stove last winter so it is still a novelty to us, although I don’t think I could ever grow tired of its warm cosy glow.
Have a lovely day Donna!
What fun. I love seeing what things are the same and what things are different from you and where we are in the US. We have the Michaelmas Daisies, or at least something that looks exactly like them, but I have never seen a conker.
That’s interesting. I thought there were conker trees every where. I’ve just googled it. Apparently they are called ‘Buckeyes’ in the USA. They are the fruit of the horse chestnut tree.
A thoughtful and reflective post. I also enjoy autumn the most. It is a very cosy season.
Thank you Anna
Great pictures! They must have had so much fun! Must be a lovely time of the year to be out, too bad it is summer here all year around in the tropics.
Do you have no change of season at all? I think there would be many people in the uk who would love that!
The only reason I know what conkers are is from Kipper. We’ve got acorns here that the kids throw at each other.
Over here the children hang the conkers by string and play ‘conkers’ whereby you use your conker to try to knock your opponents conker off their string.
That’s what they did in the Kipper episode, it was quite fun to watch!
So lovely… autumn is my favorite season as well. Something about the scent and feeling of the air and the warm colors that surround us. What you wrote about nature grounding us – it hit home completely – thank you for expressing how I feel so very often, in a much better way than I could have!
Yes, the beauty does make one somewhat reflective. I love my pond!
Autumn is my favourite time of the year as well, and I, too, am feeling more introspective as the days get shorter. I love your photos. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Hwee!
I do so love the pond updates. What a lovely place to visit each week.
I have to say thank you because it was this one year pond study of yours, that I enjoyed so much, and decided to start our own one year study. So far we are on week 6, and absolutely loving it. So again, I thank you for the idea.
Oh, and I had to laugh when I noticed in the last picture, that the cars were parked on the “wrong” side of the road. Though it reminded me of the time I was able to vist London as a young teen, and how odd I thought it was then for everyone to drive on the “wrong” side of the road.
LOL!
I’m so glad you are enjoying your pond study. It does kind of suck you in, doesn’t it?
