Angelicscalliwags Rag #07

This is just a quick post this week. It’s half term and it’s manic around here with sleep overs, volunteering, cleaning… last night we had around 20 teens and young people in our home between Abs and Becs’ friends from church and Lillie, Charlotte and Ads friends. It was SO loud!!

I focused much of last week on my small business. I’m not sure why, but I just didn’t fancy studying. I know me well enough to know that I will get much more done when I am doing the things I want to do rather than the things I feel I ought to do. Also, I love to study usually so I knew my enthusiasm would return fairly quickly. I was right. This week so far has been all about my master’s and I’m so in the mood for it that I’m getting through things at the rate of knots!

So, what did I get done last week? I did a large photo shoot of all my stickers and have started adding them all to my Etsy store:

I’ve also been playing about with notebook designs I can make at home instead of using Amazon. There was a lot of trial and error but I got there in the end. I’m just waiting to order some supplies before I can make them in bulk and then pop them on Etsy.

My latest video, ‘A Day in my Life as a Small Art Business Owner’, is up on YouTube and I share some of the process of figuring out my notebooks in there:

Reading

Having reread Know Your Rights And Claim Them: A Guide for Youth, a book from last week, for not just a second time but a third time also, I’ve not read too much else this week.  I’ll definitely be using that particular book for my next assignment and each time I read it I become more and more familiar with it, which will help when I come to reference it in my assignment.

I also finished The Hobbit, which I can’t say I loved. Fantasy isn’t really my thing. In fact, in general, fiction isn’t really my thing. But I like to stretch myself sometimes. There was an awful lot of tuneless singing throughout the book which was a bit disconcerting!

I’m also reading Oliver Sacks’ autobiography, On the Move: A Life. I’ve read a few of his books, most memorably Awakenings, which was later made into a film. It’s a fascinating and brutally honest look at a life, perhaps not well lived, but definitely lived thoroughly. I’m really enjoying it, so far.

Family Fun Night

JJ, Lil’s longterm boyfriend, turned 22 last week. He spent his birthday with his mum, sister and Lillie, but came to stay with us a few days later. He had mentioned to Lil that he’d love to do another family fun night so I thought it would be a nice thing to do for his birthday. It didn’t go quite as planned as when we left to go shopping for pizzas and a cake we ended up in a traffic jam which lasted for over an hour! Needless to say, we never actually made it to the shops and had to stop at a smaller village shop to get supplies.

I’d sent off for a coupe of new activities. One was a monkey tail game which looked a lot of fun and got good reviews but actually we found it too difficult to actually manage…and there is no fun in that!

I also bought some minis to race – some of those pullback minis. JJ loves minis and toy cars, so I thought he might enjoy some racing! We also played Jenga and masquerade, which is a truly hilarious word game which was SO much fun and which we will definitely play more of in the future!

Well, that’s it for this week! I hope you all had a wonderful week xx
