Blogmas {Introduction}

Blogmas

Traditionally, I’ve taken December off to spend time with the family. This was absolutely the right thing to do when the children were younger. This year all five children are so incredibly busy socially that Gary and I don’t really get a look in! This makes me happy and sad in equal parts. Happy because they are obviously thriving socially, and as a homeschooler, I LOVE that. And sad, because it’s the end of another era. Once again, I feel so utterly blessed to have been led to homeschool. The last 22 years have been utterly magical. And I’m sure in their own, different way, the next 22 will be just as magical.

Health

This year, you will know, I have been focusing a bit more on myself. It has been a grand adventure. My fitness and self-esteem rocketed. Learning on my master’s degree has, for the most part, been fascinating. And don’t even get me started on my art, which has opened doors I had never ever considered going through before.

However, whilst this all sounds very positive (and it really is), since the end of August my healthy habits have diminished. It’s funny how momentum keeps things ticking along, but when you pause that momentum it’s really hard to start up again.

This Is Where Blogmas Comes In…

By the end of August, I was close to having lost 28lbs over the past 8 months. However, since then it has begun to creep back on again. So I’ve decided, as a last ditch attempt to finish the year as strongly as I began it, to do blogmas this year. You guys will be my accountability. And even if no-one is interested and the blogmas posts don’t get read, the very action of blogging about my efforts each day will be enough accountability in and of itself.

I’m a massive introvert, so the whole ‘celebrations of the season’ kind of floats on by without me really needing to be a part of it. Gary is right there with me regarding wanting to be healthier. Although as an extrovert he will be socialising a whole lot more than I will, so it will be that much harder for him.

Blogmas

As of tomorrow, I will be blogging at the end of each day. The goal is to be as active as I possibly can and to eat as healthily as I possibly can. It’s unlikely that I’ll be able to get my weight down enough that I’ll have lost 28Ibs this year, but that is going to be my goal. Reach for the moon and fall among the stars…or something like that.

I’m sure, given it’s Christmas, no-one will want to join me (!). But should there be anyone who has similar goals, please do feel free to join me in the comments. That way, we can help each other stay accountable.

May I take this opportunity to thank all my regular readers for all the support you’ve given me this year. I feel blessed to know each and every one of you. I hope you all have an amazing, joy-filled Christmas this year.

🧡 Sending you all lots and lots of love xxx
