As we are currently studying all things medieval, I thought I’d include some photos of a medieval re-enactment we attending when the children were much younger.
We love going to re-enactments (and a medieval re-enactment is surely the best!) and I think secretly the children would quite like to get involved in one themselves (lots of dressing up and pretend play – what could be more enjoyable?). Additionally, I love that they tend to be very hands on and not only give lots of demonstrations, but also allow the children a chance to try things for themselves. This was a reenactment we attended in Northern Ireland, so was probably about 4 years ago.
The Main Activities at the Medieval Re-enactment
Jousting
The team put on a very real looking jousting competition. We were able to choose the side we wanted to win and cheered them on:

Then, since spear fighting was also a thing back during the Middle Ages, we watched a fight:

Bows and Arrows

Later, the children even got to experience the weaponry for themselves:

Medieval Food and Kitchen Tools
We wandered around the stalls and experienced the foods, herbs and flavourings of the time:

Medieval Re-enactment: Gary in the Stocks!
Needless to say, the children especially enjoyed this part of the Medieval re-enactment:

Oh the memories!! I LOVE looking back!
