Homeschool Plans for Abigail {Aged 14-15}

Morning Meeting First thing in the morning will be our morning meeting (between 9-930), which lasts about 30 minutes, sometimes longer. In this time, I will be focusing on Mystery of History (finishing Mystery of History Vol 2: The Early Church and the Middle Ages and starting Vol 3: Renaissance) and The Story of Science:……

Reading, Watching and Listening This Weekend

Reading This week I finished Treasuring Christ When Your Hands Are Full by Gloria Furman. This was surprisingly good mainly because it was unexpected. I thought I knew what the book was going to be about…and to some extent I was spot on, but occasionally Furman said something which was not anticipated and brought big……

Chitting and a Chatting

I am loving the whole blogging daily on angelicscalliwags. Taking a break and writing whatever I wanted on Seasons of Joy was wonderfully freeing. Instead of worrying about SEO and whether anybody was going to find me and read what I had to write, I could just simply write…for me. Writing is such an important……

Reading, Watching and Listening for the Weekend

Reading I finished such a good book this week. So good, I could not put it down. I took it with me everywhere I went just in case I could squeeze in a couple of minutes of reading. The book? Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus. From the back of the book (because I couldn’t……

Ubaid Culture {Mesopotamia Unit Study}

The Ubaid culture is an immense prehistoric period of history spanning from about 6500BC to 3800BC and developed from the pottery neolithic era of the Natufians. There are three such cultures (Halaf, Samarra and Ubaid), Halaf being the oldest.  The Ubaid’s name came from Tell Ubaid which is a mound close to Ur in Southern……

My Experience of an MRI Scan

So…the day after my appointment with the ENT consultant I received a phone call telling me I needed to be booked in for an urgent MRI scan, and how did tomorrow sound? I was a little discombobulated to say the least. I thought I’d be getting a non-urgent appointment through the post in a few……

Reading, Watching and Listening this Weekend

Listening I’ve been listening to an amazing podcast called Agatha Christie and the Dandelion Poisoner, free on Audibles. American journalist, Jo Nocera, travels to the UK to find out the answer to one of the most interesting cases of poisoning involving Herbert Armstrong, a solicitor from Hay-on-Wye in Wales. Armstrong was hanged in 1922 for……

My Greeting Cards Came Through!

This is a post which is heavy on the pictures and light on the writing! This is my first delivery of cards. Let’s just say, I’ve learnt a lot. They are not perfect but the colours are wonderful and printed.com did a marvellous job with the quality. I will definitely be ordering from them again.……

Designing and Ordering a Custom Made Business Stamp

I’m running a bit late on account of Becca’s Football camp! Somehow the day has completely got away from me. I have finally snapped a couple of photos to show you of my new business stamp and the start of the resulting business card. I can’t tell you how delighted I am with the result!……

Reading, Listening and Watching for the Weekend

I have to admit that ploughing through The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins, which I’m listening to on Audibles, has taken up a large proportion of my reading/listening time this week. I can not put it down! It was over 24 hours listening time in length. Because it has multiple narrators, I have to……

Ordering Custom Made Greeting Cards

So today, my huge achievement is ordering my custom made greeting cards! I finally figured out a way to upload the images, change the colour profile and have them of a good enough quality and size for the company to accept the order. This was definitely a labour of love because I found it so……

Achievements in July

July has been a tough month for me. I have been feeling really tired. Not my fairly frequent ‘I haven’t slept for weeks’ kind of tiredness, something worse and not normal for me at all (think falling asleep sitting up whilst working). This has made getting up early and going to the gym regularly difficult.……
