I like taking the weekend off from writing and all things digital so you’re getting three days in one! I’ve had a great three days, especially given there has been so much tempting food around.
Saturday {Day 2}
On Saturday we spent the day decorating, Christmas shopping and I ended the day with a date night in with Gary. Our living room is looking so very pretty and I’m definitely getting in the Christmas spirit! I went shopping with Charlotte, Lillie and Lillie’s young man, JJ. This year we are having to drastically cut down on the amount of money we are spending over the Christmas period. It is the downside of traditions which have been going on for over two decades – there is a definite reluctance from all parties involved to give them up.
Lillie, bless her heart, had the rather wonderful idea that we could still do our Christmas pyjamas but instead of Gary and I paying for them all, we would pay for our pjs and Abs and Bec’s pjs and everyone else would pay for their own. So on Saturday we popped over to Sainsbury’s and chose matching pjs for all 8 of us. Thomas and Jess opted out on account of having so many Christmas pyjamas Thomas doesn’t have room to store them anymore!
Given there was so much food floating around in the form of mince pies, candy canes and chocolate I did really really well. The only unhealthy thing I ate all day were two small star cookies. Gary and I had a lovely evening watching Strictly Come Dancing and munching on a lovely avocado and gorgonzola salad.
Sunday {Day 3}
Sunday, Becca had a football match which Gary and JJ accompanied her to. I spent the day pottering around the house and my studio. We had our usual chicken roast before everyone but me and Ads left to go to church. Lillie runs the youth and Abs and Becs always go up to help her set up for the youth group. Charlotte was leading worship and Gary was drumming in her band. We headed up to join them at six. After church we had nine of the youth come back to ours for hot chocolate and cookie decorating. I managed to not have either and joined Lillie and JJ in some hot soup and a cheese toastie. It was delish!
Monday {Day 4 – today}
I was really excited for today because it was going to be my first day at the health club Gary and I had signed up to. Gary’s been a few times, but I wasn’t available at the times he chose to go. Today, we specifically planned it so that he came with me for the first time. Gosh, it was lovely. We’re used to an open all hours, all welcome kind of gym. This meant no swimming pool or spa but lots (and lots) of boys.
This new club was a totally different experience. We went at around 730 in the evening. I wanted to try out the swimming pool so Gary very kindly agreed to come with me as it was my first time. When I walked into the pool I thought it was shut. The lights were dimmed so much it was almost pitch black. I jumped in, shivered (it was absolutely freezing!) and quickly swam 20 lengths. I was surprised by how easy it was. Afterwards we spent some time in the steam room before heading back home.
I am SO looking forward to swimming each night. The fact that the lights are so dimmed is such a great thing for me sleep wise, and swimming is such a gentle exercise I felt relaxed and sleepy by the time I got home.
Food-wise, I did great (even if I do say so myself!). In just these three days, I am down a pound!
How are you all doing?
