I have, at last (!) completed our cosy cottage bathroom renovations. It has taken me the best part of a year and has cost me practically nothing. We bought a special mould repellant paint, which was expensive (around £100 I think) but apart from that, I only spent £20 on some sage green table runners, which I sewed into curtains.

Aside from these, I have shopped from my cottage, repurposing furniture and fabric. I’ve moved bits and pieces from around our home and created a lovely relaxing space to bathe, do our laundry and read by oil light whilst rocking in my old nursing chair. What was a simple bathroom has morphed into a multipurpose room which we all enjoy 😊

I also made a short video explaining everything that I have done, and also those things I chose not to do.

I LOVE my new bathroom and use it extensively when everyone else is asleep at night, to wind down from the day’s activities. Let me just say, putting a rocking chair in our bathroom was a stroke of genius!

I’ll leave my YouTube video below, and just in case it’s not working properly, I’ll leave the link below it. Enjoy!
I’m moving onto my kitchen next. This will be a bigger job because we do not have an air vent for the cooker. This means the ceiling and walls get sticky really quickly from cooking. The main bulk of the work will be cleaning the ceiling and walls and repainting. We’ve always used matt paint before but, of course, this is not as easily wiped down as perhaps a paint mixed for bathrooms and kitchens. So, I am planning to repaint with a fully wipeable paint which will help me to keep it a bit cleaner looking. Hopefully it will take me less than a year…
