DIY Sewing Machine Cover

DIY Sewing Machine Cover {Studio Vlog}

I had so many plans this week, but on Monday I began making my own DIY sewing machine cover, and didn’t seem able to put it down until it was completed! There is nothing I enjoy more than figuring out different ways to use my art. I was extremely blessed by my family for my 50th birthday. My mum bought me a heavy duty Singer sewing machine. My children clubbed together and bought me a sublimation printer. And my husband presented me with a large multi-functional heat press.

Sewing, Unpicking Said Sewing…Rinse and Repeat

I’ve not had a sewing machine for a few years since Becs stole mine! I love to sew. I mean, I really love to sew. Probably more than I love to paint. That said, my textiles tutor at school would be surprised (although maybe surprised is the wrong term, in fact, unsurprised would be far more likely) to see the mish mash which are my sewing skills today. There would be much posturing and cringing because I do not use patterns, or pay too much attention to measurements.

In fact, whilst I somehow managed to get an A for my textiles GCSE, I actually use very little of what I was taught. I know you all know this. After all, you’ve watched me throw paint at walls and ceilings and call it decorating. Y’all know I’m a bit not-a-perfectionist. It’s hard when one is birthed from a perfectionist, marries a perfectionist and somehow manages to create her own mother-son-in-law clones in at least half of her children. Darn it, I am the anomaly in my family!

Anyway, I say all this to pre-warn you (and my sewing tutor) that the following video may give you reason to squirm uncomfortably. This DIY sewing machine cover is an ad hoc piecing together of some small home-made home-printed quilted fabric with the hope of creating something that loosely resembles a cover for my new sewing machine.

I mean, I was over-the-moon with the result, but we all know I’m easily pleased. Plus, you are not here holding it and inspecting it closely. If you were, I promise you’d be disappointed! But me? I’m chuffed to bits. I even managed to pop my small business logo on the back!

I run a small Etsy shop, Angelicscalliwags Art, if you’d like to view or buy any of my art. I have also created an Art Studio page on my blog where I post anything to do with my art, my art small business and any other creative endeavours.
