Night-time Pond Visit {Pond Study: Week 12}

Night-time Pond Visit

This week we carried out a spring night-time pond visit…and it was glorious! Ponds at night can be magical, offering a unique and tranquil view, often enhanced by the nocturnal activity of aquatic creatures and the visual appeal of a moonlit sky reflecting on the water. Many pond creatures are more active after dark, creating a different kind of life to observe. However, other pond inhabitants like fish enter a rest state. Without daylight activities and wind, ponds are often calmer at night, making reflections clearer and movements more serene.

Seconds later, in the midst of some very noisy honking, they flew up to a nearby tree to roost.

We’ll definitely be going again at night-time, maybe even a little later.  Everything was so harmonious and at peace.
