Valentine’s Day

Valentine's Day

I scheduled this post to go live yesterday but it didn’t publish! So, a day late, I bring you a few Valentine’s Day fun posts.

Over the years we’ve had some really special Valentine’s days (hmm, I’m not sure that is grammatically correct? Should it be Valentine days?). Gary has been away in Germany for the past three days and is due back tonight. So we will be celebrating Saturday night instead. Lillie has paid for us to go away to an airbnb. We shall be dining out and spending precious time together. I can not wait!

But this post is not about the love we have shown this year. No, it is to remember some of the lovely times we’ve had a family on Valentine’s Day. There are many to choose from but I have picked only three to briefly write about and link to should you wish to read some fun ways to celebrate this day of love as a family.

Valentine Restaurant: Take One

This was probably my personal favourite. It was something our three older children did for Gary and I when they were all about 10. As a huge surprise, they opened up a Valentine’s restaurant just for one night only. It was possibly the most expensive meal we have ever eaten, if the £300 bill at the end was anything to go by! But my goodness, was it great fun! Lillie was chef, Thomas was waiter and Charlotte was drinks’ waiter. She stayed in the room for almost the entire time so we didn’t get too much privacy. And of course there was the famous indoor window shot as all three peered through the window at us as we ate!

Anyway, feel free to go and have a giggle by reading about the Valentine’s Restaurant: Take One

Valentine’s Restaurant: Take Two

The first time it had been only the older children. The younger ones were still babies so were in bed whilst the grand opening of Valentine’s restaurant occurred. The second one, it was all five of the children, in addition to Ads, who was living with us by then. They attempted to resurrect the restaurant of yesteryear. It was a little more sophisticated than the first as the older children were, well, older. Oh, and it occurred on my birthday, not Valentine’s Day! The younger one’s had so much fun being part of it all:

And, of course, we had to recreate the window photo, this time with all five of them:

With six children and a dog, emotions were running high, and I believe everyone ended up either being sacked or bursting into tears. And Gary and I? Well, we just laughed. It was my birthday after all and this was only the second opening of the Valentine’s Restaurant. And it was my birthday. Laughing was the only correct response! The Very Best Valentine’s Day Ever

This was another incredibly special Valentine’s Day, where Daddy got to take his older girls out on their first date!

Valentine's Day

Whilst he was gone, Thomas and I had a Valentine’s picnic in the living room:

The Best Valentine’s Day Ever is worth a read for its cuteness!

I hope you have all had a wonderful Valentine’s this year ❤️
