I am learning that love is not enough sometimes. It doesn’t solve all problems. It doesn’t make someone well. It doesn’t take away pain. And it doesn’t stop seizures. As I say, love is not enough.

But love is something.

On Monday we rushed to A and E again with Charlotte, who was having very different, very violent seizures. They were stopping her from breathing and were very distressing for her to experience and for us to watch. The triage nurse fast tracked her to the A and E resuss because her blood pressure and her heart rate were so high.

I love my family, all of the time. I especially love them in emergencies. When one man is down, everyone steps up. I was advised by the GP surgery to take her straight to A and E. I left with Charlotte immediately. Thomas phoned into work and took his little sisters to work with him. Lillie initiated a prayer circle with all Charlotte’s friends and family. Gary’s boss drove him down to the hospital to join me. The littles bought Charlotte a beautiful rose plant for her bedroom, while Lillie tidied it and made it a haven for her to come back to.

And Becca wrote her beloved sister a poem…

We Are Two

If you fall I will catch you,

We are two.

You are a part of me,

We are two.

I love you with all my heart,

We will never fall apart.

We are two.

I will help you,

We are two.

If you need some-one to take care of you,

I am here for you.

Always, for always.

If the tears are running down your face,

All you need to do is think of a dress with lace.

I am here for you.

Because we are two.

I love you!

Love is something. It is not the answer to everything. But it is something. It is something really quite wonder-filled, heart achingly beautiful and very, very precious.

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.We love because he first loved us. 1 John 4: 18-19
