….wrote to the local politician with regards to raising the profile of human slavery. She has also written to David Beckham (child slavery is one of the issues close to his heart) to ask how she, as a fifteen year old, can raise awareness in our community. Charlotte will also be writing to the editorial of the local newspaper.
I’m not sure how I raised such a socially conscious young lady. At fifteen, Charlotte feels frustrated at her limitations. Human slavery and trafficking is a huge issue. What can one girl possibly do to help put a stop to it?
Charlotte has one thing, and that is her voice. And my goodness what a powerful voice she has. She read the letter to the politician out-loud to get the okay to send it off. She stuns me daily. Her passion, her research and her need to get her point across with as much clarity and precision possible, created a letter which sounded as if it had been written by a much older person.
Charlotte really does have a voice, and she has the heart, the passion and a get-up-and-go attitude which might very well make that difference she craves.
After she sent off each letter, she grinned, saying how good it felt to be doing something…..anything.
You raised a wonderful girl, and I’m 100% certain she’ll be one of those people who will be making a difference in this world. Thank you for that.
Thank you for saying that <3
I tried to leave a message on your blog but it is all in a different language. I used to be able to right click and google translate would come up, but that doesn’t work anymore. Any ideas? I’d love to pop by and say hello
Hi Claire,
I moved my site from wordpress.com to my own hosting so some things changed. I did add an option in the sidebar to translate the site to English, however, it’s definitely not perfect. One of these days I might just bite the bullet and translate it completely myself to make a real multilanguage site LOL
May her voice make a difference!
In deed 🙂
Good for her, stepping up and making a difference in something she believes in.
