After writing a stack of reviews over the past year, a few of the products have emerged as absolute favourites in our household and I thought I would share my top five in reverse order.
Number Five
VeritasBible.com from Veritas Press was my fifth favourite resource I reviewed this year. It is thorough and digs much deeper than normal elementary Bible curricula:
We can’t possibly finish it in the year we are blessed to have it, but I am certain my younger girls are far more proficient in the Old Testament than they were prior to having access to this excellent curriculum.

Number Four
Science Shepherd comes joint fourth with Chemistry 101. Science Shepherd, because my eight year old has loved it so much:
and Chemistry 101 because my son and I have enjoyed the DVDs so much:
I simply couldn’t choose between the two of them 🙂 They are both video based curricula, both thorough, interesting and spot on in terms of content, practicals and workbook exercises.

Number Three
In third place is Orphs of the Woodlands at Tangletree from Star Toaster. My eight year old took this away and finished it very quickly. It fit A8 like a dream and she was left wanting more, much more. In fact, after Christmas we will be buying their larger product Orphs of the Woodland for her to use just before she tucks down at night.

Number Two
Ultimate Phonics reading program was my second favourite resource of the year. This was so completely perfect for my five year old.
In fact I liked it so much I am also using it with my eight year old who, whilst reading beautifully, is an atrocious speller. As the program explains so simply how the mechanics of phonics works I am hopeful it will help her with her spelling as well as her sister’s reading. This program is suitable for young children up to adult age, and it is very, very good 🙂

Number One
EdTechLens’ Rainforest Journey was my absolute favourite resource for the year. It came at just the right time (as we were studying the Rainforests already), was set in just the right continent (South America – the continent we were currently studying at that time) and was just perfect for both B5 and A8. We did every single lesson and every single activity and was left wanting even more – it was that good!
