Today the children all had friends coming round in the afternoon so we needed to squeeze in everything I wanted to finish before lunch. The first thing was making sure Thomas’ morning went smoothly. I made him breakfast in bed, but he chose to join us at the table. He was doing his driving test this morning and was so nervous (he passed!!). He’d also been working crazy hours at college, helping out his tutors to video the older students’ Showcase Evenings, and so was very tired as well.

After breakfast and chores, Thomas left for his driving test and the littles and I popped down to the green grocers for some salad and fruit for lunch.
School consisted of Lillie finishing off units in Psychology, Sociology, Human Biology and Chemistry, alongside a couple of màths lessons. Charlotte is almost at the half way point of her màths course and has her exam in a few weeks time. She just continued on with her course. The littles and I went outside to take some pictures of our herb and vegetable garden:

Abigail and Rebecca borrowed Lillie’s camera to take photos of some flowers for their Botany:

Watching them enjoy the photography activity has given me the idea of including photography in their school next year. I have taken Lillie through a Level three diploma, so I think I could offer them something. The last thing I squeezed in before home-making time was the tables and Latin vocab flash cards and another chapter from The Secrets of Vesuvius.
We all then went to work in the hallway, on the larder. My main goal today was to fill up the dried fruit, nuts and seeds jars and to get rid of anything out of date. The girls always play music and I get all sorts of renditions sung to me during our home-making times. Today I got a dance show as well…end of the week shinanigans!

During the next school session, we pinned up the girls’ art from yesterday:

Filled in some mini books about flower parts for Botany:

And completed a flower crossword:

I finished off school for the day by reading the Mystery of History lesson on Elisha, a couple of Life of Fred chapters and one more chapter of the Secrets of Vesuvius. Afterwards, we did a quick tidy up and declared the rest of the day off!
The older girls had a friend coming round and they ended up spending the afternoon at the park, meeting up with a couple of other friends. The littles also had a friend visiting for the afternoon. They spent some time in the garden and also played with some marshmallows and spaghetti to build as high a tower as possible:

I spent the afternoon school planning next week. I got loads done and hopefully enough that I won’t have to do any tomorrow. Yay!
Have a great weekend everyone!
Congratulations to Thomas! Well done. I love the bears the girls drew. They both have so much personality – bears and girls. 🙂 Looks like you had a great day. Didn’t you tell me you were coming across the pond to clean and organize my house? I’ll expect you any day now. Have a great weekend, Claire. Hugs, my friend.
I’ll be round just as soon as I’ve finished mine!! Take care my lovely friend xx
I’m so thankful for the fact that you share your homeschooling world with us!
Thanks Leatha!
